Manhattan College is a Lasalian catholic school founded in 1853 by the Brothers of the Christian Schools to promote faith, education, respect, community and social justice. The college occupies a 23-acre campus in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. Manhattan College has grown to nearly 400 students in 100 programs in six distinct schools. Communication majors at Manhattan College are uniquely situated to gain real world experience while pursuing their degree. Manhattanville started in 1841 as the Academy of the Sacred Heart, a Catholic boarding school for girls. Manhattanville currently offers 45 undergraduate and 75 graduate programs on its 100-acre campus in Purchase. Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies

Medaille College was started in 1875 by the Sister of Saint Joseph as a facility for educating teachers. It has since grown to be a private, four-year college with campuses in Buffalo, Rochester and online. Medaille is unique in its flexible educational delivery system. Mercy College was founded in 1950 by the Sisters of Mercy. In 1961, the college became a four-year college and grew into the private, non-sectarian college it is today. The Communication Studies: Public Relations degree prepares students for work as corporate spokespeople, corporate video producers, content writers, community relations specialists, and numerous other public relations positions. The 42-credit program combines communication theory coursework with practical communication skills development in a real world setting. Students are permitted up to three internships in such places as television studios, advertising agencies and nonprofit corporations. The Public Relations program is not offered online.
B.S in Communication Studies
The B.S. in Communication Studies helps students develop skills in such areas as: communication problem solving, information analysis, communication law and ethics, written communication and diversity. The program combines 60 credit hours of general liberal arts classes with 42 credit hours of communication coursework and 18 hours of electives for a total of 120 credits. Students are permitted up to three internships to gain practical experience. All classes are offered on the Dobbs Ferry campus.

B.S. Communication Disorders
The Communication Disorders degree combines coursework with practical experience working with pediatric and adult patients at the on-site Speech and Hearing Center. Students in the program will learn how to write and present analysis of research, collect and analyze data using quantitative reasoning, quantify client behavior, formulate clinical documentation and understand the role of culture and environment in the development of communication. Students who complete the program will be qualified to continue with graduate study in speech-language pathology, audiology, speech and hearing science, education, special education, psychology, and social work.

The Journalism and Communication for Online Media program applies traditional skills in writing, editing and reporting to the internet and other digital media. Starting with a foundation in journalism, students learn to adapt their words, videos and photos for the web. Students have the opportunity to apply web design skills to the online and print school newspaper and can hone their talents by working at the on-campus internet radio station and video production unit. The Productions Lab allows students hands-on experience in journalism, computer assisted writing, video and audio production editing for the web, photography and editing, and web design. The Media Studies – Journalism major emphasizes investigative writing, critical thinking and speaking. The 39-credit hour program prepares students for careers with traditional and digital media. Coursework includes classes in news literacy, broadcast journalism, newswriting, screenwriting, mass media, digital video production, media practices, public speaking, magazine writing, investigative reporting, radio news, narrative journalism and copyediting. Students are prepared for employment by gaining experience in internships and developing a senior thesis portfolio of their work.
Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies – Concentration in Production
The Media Studies – Production major prepares students for careers in multimedia communications by emphasizing television and film writing, video and audio production and digital production skills along with critical thinking skills. Graduates of the program are prepared to work in television, film, internet-based companies, advertising and radio. The 39-credit hours include classes in non-linear editing, newswriting, television production, digital video, screenwriting, journalism, copyediting, persuasion, public relations writing and mass media writing. Nyack College was founded in 1882 as a missionary seminary by A.B.Simpson, a pastor in Manhattan that had a passion for bringing the word of God to everyone. Although still a seminary affiliated with the Christian and Missionary Alliance, the school has grown to nine colleges and schools serving nearly 2500 students.
